Who makes the decisions on the grant funding?
The Cumbria Fells and Dales Local Action Group is made up of representatives from businesses, public agencies and local community bodies. Each year this group appoints an Executive to consider grant applications and act as a steering group for the programme. Grant applications are also appraised by the North West Regional Development Agency.
What area is covered by Cumbria Fells and Dales?
Cumbria Fells and Dales LAG represents certain parishes within Cumbria. Please View a map of the eligible parishes or contact the Cumbria Fells and Dales Office.
What is the LEADER approach?
The LEADER approach is a bottom-up, community-led approach to the delivery of RDPE funds for projects, which will benefit the rural community in specific LEADER areas. Each LEADER area has a Local Action Group made up of public and private partners from the eligible rural area, including representatives from different socio-economic sectors. In the delivery of the RDPE, the Local Action Groups can play an important role in encouraging innovative responses to old and new rural problems, and help to build local capabilities.
