Laurie Walton is the Wild Life Warden &
Deer Manager for United Utilities (Northern Team) covering
Thirlmere and Haweswater. He has kept bees for 20 years at
his home in St John's in the Vale. He currently has one hive
which produced 38 lbs of honey last year.
His bees produce a lighter coloured honey in
the Spring/early Summer and a darker variety later in the
year, this is due to the variable blossom etc available in
the area: Conifers, Sycamore, Beech, Sweet and Horse Chestnut.
