Always a risky business in an area where four fine days
in a row are hard to predict; but here at Applethwaite John
Helm uses modern methods - a quad bike - to make light work
of gathering stray bales together for stacking. Later these
will be loaded on a trailer using a specialised grab and
ram on a tractor front loader. The days of throwing them
up by hand are well and truly over, and any job that can
be eased mechanically will be.
