Wasdale show is held annually on the first Saturday in
October, among the patchwork of stone walls in the valley
head. Shepherds from Wasdale and all parishes adjoining,
including Eskdale, Borrowdale, Buttermere and Ennerdale,
wash and preen their best sheep to exhibit and compete.
