Taken on the Tilberthwaite fells January 2006.
Herdwick sheep are naturally hardy enough to stay out on
the open fells during the winter. Feed blocks are taken
out once a week to provide extra energy and encourage the
ewes to forage and make use of the natural roughage and
herbage, this tends to keep the sheep spread over a wider
area than those that are fed daily with hay etc.
