Photo taken at her farmhouse near Orton 21 Oct 2005.
Jan came to Cumbria in 1993 - when she had four lambs and
one goat on her ten acres. Today she has 30 Angora goats,
3 Manx sheep and 3 Blue-faced Leicesters. She shows her
goats at local and national events with great success, last
year her Angora goats won their class at the Great Yorkshire
Show.
Her Rainbow dyed mohair socks are in great demand by those
in the know.
All her wool and angora is hand dyed.
Jan was a founder member of Wool Clip, the ladies co-operative
who have combined to retail their products through an outlet
at Priest's Mill, Caldbeck. She also teaches her craft at
the Brewery Arts Centre, Kendal. Currently she is taking
a Contemporary Applied Arts degree course at the Cumbria
Institute of the Arts.
